Pray for our Thursday Bible Club which has been drawing more people. When our youth leaders decided to take a break from youth ministry we decided to have young and old adults meet together for an hour and thereafter have the younger folks spend some time together as an exclusive group. I have been wonderfully surprised at the interaction we have been getting. Also, two ladies joined us yesterday as a result of our '1000 doors' outreach.
Pray for Giles who went to his uncle's funeral today, then returned home to find out that his daughter-in-law had also died. Since I have known Giles, he has lost many family members. Please, pray for Christ's hope and comfort for him.
Pray for our after school program. We had an exciting start to our after-school program with already 15 children enrolled. We are actually expecting more to enroll before the month is over. We are asking parents for $10 a month or some volunteer time. Some parents have been helping willingly and with joy. We are also thankful to have received from the Dalant Mission group the 3 computers which are providing additional support for the children.
Pray for our building project - Butler Street Community Center. Currently, work has been on hold for a number of reasons. We have done much work on this building already and hope to have it completed by next Spring. That is my prayer.
Pray for spiritual renewal and growth of our leadership team. My prayer is for some deacon candidates.
Pray for me as I, along with many other urban pastors, have to consider becoming bi-vocational until the church is financially able to fully support a pastor. /div>
In these hard economic times it is not easy to ask folks to be giving. Some of our members are learning to trust and lean on the Lord more and have committed to give more regularly./div>
Please, won't you also do what you can ... with joy. 2. Cor 9.7)
Save the dates:
November 19thwe will hold a 4 year anniversary banquet at 5:30 pm. Location is to be announced but it will be in the Hunting Park neighborhood. You should receive an invitation within 2 weeks. /div>
November 21/b>we will again be serving our neighborhood with turkey baskets. Last year we scaled down a bit. This year we plan on giving out about 150 turkey baskets. As you know we cannot do this without your kind and generous giving. Each turkey basket costs about $25 which is less than what we spent last year. We are counting on receiving some free food items from our neighbors and also from S.H.A.R.E. - a food bank/warehouse). If you would like to donate using paypal, please click the following link:
Christ's peace to you,
